About a dozen Old Line Velo members were spotted in the woods today for the ribbon cutting ceremony for the white blazed Valley View Trail. There was a short informal ceremony with a few key folks in attendance. Steve McCoy, the new Park Manager for Patapsco, Amy Lutsko, former Patapsco Trail Boss and PVSP ranger most responsible for the great trail network in lower Patapsco, Dave Ferraro, President of Mid Atlantic Off Road Enthusiasts, Ed Dixon, architect of the Patapsco 100 course, and Eric Crawford, MORE Patapsco Park Liaison. OLV board member Jon Posner and his whole family were there, and several other board members and at-large members came by too. Some of the statistics surrounding the park that got mentioned during the ceremony are pretty amazing. Did you know there are over 210 miles of maintained trails within Patapsco? Did you know that over a hundred different MORE and OLV volunteers contributed 11 trail work days, 3,756 linear feet, and 917.5 hours of work just on the Valley View reroute? These fantastic trails would not exist without the volunteer hours put in by YOU and others, so in addition to thanking the PVSP officials, the MORE folks, and Eric Crawford himself – there is a well deserved THANK YOU to all who have contributed their time and effort to the cause of more and better trails for riding.
photos to come….
